We offer Beginner, Intermediate, and advanced Western Lessons in a group setting of the same age and skill level. Lessons are 1-hour long and in the arena for at least 30 minutes during the lesson, unless the lesson heads out on trail.
First Lesson/Trial lesson is by Appointment only and we do not do same day scheduling. Typically we schedule a week in advance.
First lessons/Trial lesson is a Private lesson that will take place at a time that our scheduled lessons are not normally at. They are 1 hour long, and every student will Ride during the first lesson as well as tack up, brush and put away.
Initial/Trial lesson Arrival: Upon arrival please meet one of the trainers by the picnic tables at the front of the stables 5 minutes early.
Once the initial lesson is done, we can see if the student will fit into our normal riding schedule and assign a date and time. Normal Riding Schedule is as follows:
Sunday: 8:00AM-12:00PM
Monday: 3:00PM-8:00PM
Tuesday: 3:30PM- 7:30PM
Wednesday: 3:00PM-8:00PM
Thursday: NO LESSONS
Friday; 8:00AM-11:00AM, 3:30PM-7:30PM
Saturday: NO LESSONS
Normal lessons are by a weekly schedule, with the same day/time weekly. We require a monthly commitment for lessons.
Normal lessons you will see a progression in the students riding ability as they start learning more advanced skills. Horse riding is not easy and we move at each students individual pace. We focus on learning the skills the right way.
Do we allow student helpers/ Volunteers? We do not allow students to help out before or after their lesson unless we believe they are ready and have the basic safety skills down as horses can be dangerous. If this is something the student would like to do, please ask either Konrad and or Meghan if they think it is appropriate to do so and when etc.

Makeup days will be posted on the MKO Website and will be held either on a Thursday evening or a Saturday morning. If no makeup can be scheduled within 2 weeks of the missed lesson, that lesson will be forfeited. Makeup dates and Availability will be on our Website Calendar.
Holiday Policy: Lessons on these Holidays will have to be made up on one of our makeup Dates. List of Holidays: New Years Eve, St. Patrick's Day, Easter, Fourth of July, Halloween, Thanksgiving, Christmas Eve, Christmas. These dates will also be in our Website Calendar.
Race/Competition Day Policy: Most of our races and competitions fall onto a Thursday and or Saturday, days that we do not normally teach lessons. There is an occasional race that will fall onto a normal lesson day. These dates are on our Website Calendar and will be made up following the missed lesson.
Barn Rules: Stable Speed Limit: Speed limit is 5mph. Please do not exceed the speed limit in the facility, We frown upon drivers that speed through the parking lot as it can scare the horses inside and outside the arenas, If you are caught speeding by the facility and it is brought to our attention we have a 1 time forgiveness rule, if it is brought to our attention a second time we unfortunately will have to cancel all future lessons.
Siblings and Friends: We encourage Siblings and Friends to come and support our Students during their lessons. We ask for them to respect the barn rules and etiquette. This includes, Staying quiet, not touching or feeding any horses, walking only, and keeping distance from horses outside of their stalls. We ask that these guests wear Closed toed shoes in the facility.
Parking/Drop off: Driving is only permitted in the Parking lot only. Under no circumstances will a student be dropped off outside of the parking lot.
Follows same criteria as our normal lesson policies:
We push all our kids in the direction to Barrel Race. We require at least 2 lessons a week to learn the pattern and have the opportunity to attend races etc. Not all lessons will include barrels, but will forward the riding skills to achieve what is needed to do Barrels.
New Students:
Even If the student has done Barrels before,
The First lesson/Trial lesson will not be put on barrels. The first lesson will allow us to see where the student is at in their riding career and where we need to adjust as every trainer trains differently and some are more specific in certain situations. The first lesson will allow the student to see our facility and how we train to see if it is a fit.
Competitions:
To ensure that the student will compete for a season of Racing, the student has to be on there own horse. We do allow students to compete on our horses but they are not guaranteed every competition and or the same horse every time.
